This immortal fairy tale went through hundreds of versions and variations. Raphael Tuck & Sons included it in its series, illustrated by popular artists. It was officially titled The Sleeping Beauty (Father Tuck's Fairy Tale Series No 2) and illustrated by Frances Brundage. It was published around 1900.
The fairy tale begins as expected. A baby princess is born and there's a Christening. Fairies give her their magical gifts but one of them is not invited. She comes anyway. She is angry and instead of a gift gives the baby a curse.
At fifteenth birthday, the princess will prick her finger with a spindle and die!

One of the fairies who still didn't give her her gift, is able to alleviate the curse. Instead of death there will be 'just' a hundred years old sleep. When the priness asleeps, everybody in the castle will fall asleep as well.
When the right man comes everybody will awaken and they will continue with their lives.
The king tries to prevent the fulfilment of the prophecy by abandining all the spindles in his country. But his attempts are futile
When the princess turns fifteen she wanders around the castle and finds an old lady with s spindle spinning in the tower. Of course, she wants to try how thing works and pricks her finger.
Then she falls asleep. Everybody else in the castle falls asleap too.

One hundred years pass and a handsome prince comes. He is the right person at the right time at the right place. He likes the princess and when she awakes he wants to marry her.
The whole castle awakes and Sleeping Beauty's parents just need to approve the wedding.

Sleeping Beauty's father gives his blessings to the young couple and everything looks fine. Did you notice how appropriately was the princess dressed for sleeping and how similar looks her wedding dress?
The story ends with the wedding and happily ever after, just like so many other fairy tales.
Unfortunately, we don't have all the pages available at the moment but will add the rest if and when we get the rest. We hope you still enjoyed in colorful illustrations by Frances Brundage who decided to portray the princess and the princess as a very young couple, practically children.
Children were, after all, not only her main audience but her favorite subject for drawing too.
